Mary Louise Sisneros

Mary Louise Sisneros (Louise, Lulu) sadly passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in Belen New Mexico. She has gone in peace to be with our heavenly father and family members who have preceded her in death.

Mary Louise was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico on June 11, 1951, to Brigido & Antonia Archibeque. Mary Louise was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She was a caring wife to husband Jimmy Sisneros, loving mother to four children: Ron and wife Casandra, Richard, Bridget, Jimmy Sisneros; adoring grandmother to six grandchildren: Catrina and husband Albert, Jaelyn, Cisco, Leah, Brandon, James and four great-grandchildren: Xzavier, Chloe, Angelique, and Joseph.

Mary Louise was the youngest of her siblings. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Priscilla, nephew Eric, and great niece Aundree.

She is survived by her older brother Alfred (Archie) and wife Noyola, nephew Brian and wife Amie, nieces: Angela, Berina, Nicole, Andrea, brother-in-law Arthur, and great niece and nephews: Alex, Eli, Areil, Aksel, Kaecee, Kurt, Byron, and many more adored nieces and nephews.

Mary Louise’s life can best be encapsulated by Family, Friends, Fiestas, Food and Fun! In her almost 73 years with us she experienced an abundance of each.

She met her husband, Jimmy Sisneros in the early 1970’s. They happened to live in the same apartment complex but were introduced by a mutual friend.  They immediately “hit it off.” After a short time, they realized living in proximity was not enough and decided to wed (in 1972) and moved back to her hometown in Las Vegas. NM to be closer to family and start their own.  She was a dedicated mother who strived to provide the most time, attention, and love to her children. As a stay-at-home mother, she often had delicious home cooked meals for her family.  She devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mary was gifted at remembering everyone’s birthdays and held the position of family secretary, ensuring we would meet for all family gatherings. If you knew her, I am sure you would get a birthday call or a reminder.  She was diligent to call and remind the rest of the family of whose birthday was nearing. Her favorite holiday to host was Thanksgiving. She embodied the meaning of what it was to be “thankful” by expressing and receiving all the love from family and friends. She completely relished sharing all her great memories with her family and friends.

While raising her family, she was selfless, energetic, generous, kind, loving and sociable.

Mary Louise and Jimmy moved back to Albuquerque in the late 1980’s. In the early 1990’s Mary became a grandma and started her journey of “spoiling” her grandchildren. She loved her children but … Oh boy, those grand (and great) children were her pride and joy and the subject of many shared conversations amongst her family and friends.

She spent much of her time with her “Hun, James”, often sharing a cup of coffee and conversation, taking care of kids (probably you or yours included), talking on the phone (with you, her, him, or Tu), visiting with family, or enjoying a fiesta/holiday.

Later in life, she would selflessly care for her mother Antonia and became her “best friend” all over again. She enjoyed taking her mother to garage sales and the senior center, to listen to music and partake in the activities. She also cherished her time visiting with her best friends, Romana, Loli and her “vecina”, Christine and Yvonne. She was also passionate about music and dance. Her favorite genres were Spanish, country and oldies. She would often sing along and dance. She also enjoyed sharing a meal with her loved ones appreciating the traditional new Mexican cuisine.

Mary Louise loved to joke and laugh. She was truly her best self when she was surrounded by family and friends and loved a good celebration! Please join us in Mary Louise’s Fiesta of life with family, friends, food and fun.

We will celebrate her life on Sunday, March 17,  2024, at 11:00am at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Reception to follow.
