Maxine Archuleta

September 29, 1949 — July 21, 2015

On July 21, 2015 Maxine M. Archuleta went home after a relentless battle with cancer. She was known for her strength and perseverance and she held true to this until her last breath. She was the youngest of nine children and thus was very spoiled and very loved. Throughout her life she was blessed enough to have made many wonderful friends, who stood by her in her time of need and for that her family will always be grateful.

For those of you who knew Maxine, you know she lived the last few years of her life broken hearted after saying good bye to her beloved son, Henry Lee. Along with Henry Lee, she was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Manuel Tafoya, and her adored older brothers Orlando Tafoya and Cesario Romero.

She is survived by daughters, Donna Volden and husband John, and Denise Manchego and husband Ted; brothers and sisters, Helen Barraza, Toni Tacket, Francis Tafoya, Patricia Johnston, Richard and Frank Tafoya. Her greatest pride and joy was found in her five grandchildren, Tony Archuleta, Jackson and Roman Manchego, Danielle and Ben Volden. She will be missed.

Maxine's Life Celebration will begin with a Service on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Salazar Mortuary, located at 400 3rd St. SW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87102, followed by Burial at Sunset Memorial Park. Please join the family for a reception at Gardunos at Hotel Albuquerque following Burial.
