Michael was preceded in death by his grandmothers: Juno Grant and Rosalie Meadors, uncle Van Grant, and father Johari Meadors.
He is survived by his mother Tanda, partner Lea, daughters Savannah, Erin, and brother Artha.
Michael was born on March 8, 1967 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is the first-born son of Tanda Lee and Johari Meadors. Michael was born and raised in Albuquerque and was a lifelong South Broadway community member. He was an Albuquerque High alumnus who received his Bachelor’s from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Workforce Education, and his Master’s from the University of New Mexico in Special Education. He was a beloved teacher and educator with Albuquerque Public Schools for over twenty years. He was most recently working at Hayes Middle School. His work ethic and empathetic regard for students earned him their respect and trust.
He was a protective, loyal, and dependable presence in the lives of everyone he cared for. Those he called friends were family, and he cherished family above all. Michael will be deeply missed. His legacy will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know him.
Michael's Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 am at Phillips Chapel CME located at 1401 Edith Blvd SE, 87102.
