Michael "Mikey" R. Perez, a man of unwavering strength, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Perez, parents Antonio and Emma Perez, brothers: Raymond Perez and Anthony Perez.
Mikey is survived by his three sons: Michael Joe Perez and his wife Shoshana and their children: Destiny, David, Michaela, and Ariella; Anthony Perez and his wife Angel and their children Alyssa, Antonio, and Angelo; Steven Perez and his wife Nicole; four sisters: Margaret Huerta, Frances Perez, RoseAnne Chavez and her husband Joseph, Donna Hernandez and her husband Isaias, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Born on August 20, 1956, in Hatch, New Mexico, Mikey's zest for life and love for his family were the hallmarks of his 68 years.
Mikey proudly served his country in the Army, spending two years in Germany, an experience that shaped his enduring sense of duty and service. His love for sports was evident to all who knew him. He not only excelled at fast-pitch softball but also shared his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game by coaching little league, touching the lives of many young athletes. Mikey's love for the outdoors was unmistakable, with camping and fishing trips being some of his most cherished moments.
A man who never shied away from a good time, Mikey was the life of any party and could out-dance anyone when the music started playing. His devotion to his family was paramount, especially to his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He found great joy in spending time with them at the softball field, passing on his love for the game.
As a proud Knight of Columbus, Mikey lived his faith in action, serving others with a generous heart. He was a dedicated fan of the New York Giants and the Dodgers, and his impressive collection of hats was a testament to his fun-loving spirit.
Those who knew Mikey will remember him as a loving, faith-filled, and passionate man. His legacy of striving to be a good grandpa and serving others will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. Mikey's infectious laughter, unwavering support, and the memories shared will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
Michael's Life Celebration will begin with a Gathering on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 6:00pm at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St. SW, 87102. Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 309 Stover Ave SW, 87102. Mickey will be laid to rest following the Mass at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery located at 2957 Arenal Rd. SW, 87121.
Pallbearers will be Antonio, Angelo, David, Luis, Steven, and Anthony.
Honorary pallbearer will be MichaelJoe.
