Monica R. Romero

Monica R. Romero; 66, born on January 26, 1952 to Clovia Rivera in Sile, NM was preceded in death by her two sons: Martin Anthony Romero, July 16, 1997 and GilbertLee Jose Romero, March 7, 2004; mother, Clovia Rivera Segura, May 8, 2004; mother-in-law Maria S. Romero, February 20, 2006; father-in-law, Roman Romero, September 5, 1985; and most recently grand-nephew Eric R. Romero, March 3, 2017 from Santa Fe.

Monica worked as an Educational Assistant with A.P.S for over 16 years at Longfellow Elementary, Lew Wallace Elementary, Alameda Elementary and last with Jefferson Middle School. Monica loved to cook; especially tamales and biscochitos. She also loved to sew and do embroidery. Her last passion was her grandchildren whom she loved playing with and loving them.

Monica is survived by her husband of 41 years, Gilbert B. Romero; daughter, Melissa M. Romero Garcia and husband Joe, grandchildren: Martin Antonio Romero, Angelique D. Romero, Joe E. Garcia III, and Aliana Sofia Garcia; and sister, Rita Torrez Sanchez and husband Phillip. Services will be held MONDAY at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway Blvd. SE., Albuquerque, New Mexico with an 11:00 a.m. viewing. MaryAnn Arthur will lead with music and Roy Rivera will recite the Rosary beginning at 11:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00 p.m. celebrated by Father Dennis Garcia of Guadalupe Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE.

Pallbearers will be Martin Romero, Angel Rivera, James Rivera, Leonard Rivera, Roman Romero, and Charles Romero.
