Nadine Virginia Joplin Hughes, daughter of Jay and Virginia Joplin, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on January, 11 2018.
Nadine was born in Roswell, NM, and was raised in Artesia, NM. There she was a member of the First Methodist Church, Girl Scouts, The Order of Rainbow, and school choirs, she graduated in 1961. Nadine Studied at New Mexico State University.
She married Richard (Dick) Hughes in 1965 and devoted the next several years to creating a home and raising their four children: Darryl, Lorri, Rick, and Ginger.
The family lived in Roswell, NM, Tucson, AZ and Arvada, CO. They returned to New Mexico in 1981.
Nadine revived her desire to work in the medical field by earning an Associate's Degree as a Physical Therapy Technician resulting in a twenty year career at Albuquerque's Lovelace Hospital. In this role she frequently encountered Artesians, who had come to her for therapy.
Nadine was a member of Sombra Del Monte Christian Church in Albuquerque, where she served as an elder as well as Worship Department Chair and as a choir member.
Nadine is preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter Ginger.
She will be missed by those who survive her: sons; Darryl and wife Barbara,and Rick and wife Teri, grandson David, great-grand daughter Roxie, all of Albuquerque and daughter Lorri of Vancouver, WA
She is also survived by her sister Norma Joplin Sivers and husband Mark of Fort Worth, Texas and their son Gregory and daughter Andrea.
Nadine's Life Celebration will begin with a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 20, 2018 11:00 a.m. at Sombra Del Monte Christian Church located at 2525 Vermont St. NE Albuquerque, NM 87110
