Nellie Barela, 51, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
Nellie is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents; Santos and Sara Romero, her paternal grandparents; Manuel and Eulalia Barela, her daughter; Nevaeh Barela, her niece; Crystal Barela , uncles; Charlie Barela, Henry Romero , and Eddie Barela, aunts; Ruth Zamora, and Maxine Sedillo.
She is survived by her partner of 14 years, Esperanza Garcia, her father Ernest Barela, mother Frances Barela, brother Joseph Ernest Barela Sr. and partner Robert Tyree, sister Ruby Barela and significant other Shaun Anaya, nieces; Frances Sandoval and husband James Pacheco, Mikaylah Myers and husband Alexander, and Ginger Sunrise, her nephew Joseph Barela Jr., great niece Daphni Meza, and great nephews; Ruben Ramos and Luciano Barela.
Nellie lived her life surrounded by family and friends. Her mother was her sunshine! Loving her family was her passion and her reason for breathing. When she wasn't protecting her family, she was fixing her old-fashioned cars or sitting outside with her father, who was also her best-friend. She enjoyed watching football, especially if the Redskins were playing! Every time a motor-cycle passed her she would say, "That's Bad!!!" She longed for a Harley Davidson, and though she never had one in this world, she definitely has one in the next. Her daughter Nevaeh lived through her mother's smile in this world, and now they are smiling together in the next. Take your baby girl and ride on Nellie! We love and miss you dearly.

Pallbearers will be Daphne, Ginger, Siera, and Sara. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ruben, Luciano, Frances, and Joseph.
