Pio R. Chavez passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Pio was born in Albuquerque on March 4, 1942.
Pio is preceded in death by his parents Pio Chavez, Sr.and Agnes Ortiz Chavez, brothers Dennis Chavez, and Charlie Ortiz, and surrogate parents Marcella Ortiz and Luz Ortiz.
Pio is survived by his daughters; Tricia Parsons (David), and Denise Arceneaux (Troy), Sisters; Dorothy Salazar (Eloy), Rose Marie Quintana (Delfino), Lucille Salas (Eli), and Lanett Ortiz, Brothers; Steve Ortiz, Lawrence Ortiz, Raymond Ortiz (Tina), and Martin Ortiz (Nancy), also four grandchildren; Laura Parsons-Keller, Joseph Parsons, Camille Arceneaux, and Caroline Arceneaux and one great grandchild David Roman Keller.
Pio was a very talented and gifted person who could build, paint and draw anything he had the ability to make people laugh. He worked many years as display manager, then store manager at Sears. He also owned a flower shop which allowed him an outlet for his creative abilities. He coached many hours on the basketball court and volunteered at 4H meetings and church fairs. He spent many hours with his family on the weekends building his own house in Pajarito.
Pio's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 9:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church located at 619 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Mass will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Pajarito Cemetery located at the intersection of Pajarito Rd SW and Coors Blvd SW (Hwy 45)
Pallbearers will be David Parsons, Joseph Parsons, Gino Quintana, Lawrence Ortiz, Raymand Ortiz, and John Quintana.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Martin Ortiz, Steve Ortiz, and Troy Aceneaux.
