Raymond Aloysius Griego

April 9, 1931 — January 18, 2016

Raymond Aloysius Griego, 84, went to be with our Lord on Monday, January 18, 2016.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Dolores Griego, baby sister Agripina, brothers Fred B. Griego Jr., William B. Griego, Orlando Griego, and Robert E. Griego.

Raymond is survived by his former wife Judy Haley Griego; daughters Cindy Griego Russell and husband Tony and Andrea Lynn Griego; companion of 32 years Diana Bernal and her daughters Barbara Pacheco and Tammy Martin and their husbands and grandchildren; brothers Rudy Griego and wife Lollie and Fred B. Griego III; sister Judy Griego - Ruth and husband Robert; granddaughters Angela Russell - Diggs and Antoinette Spellmon and their husbands; great granddaughters Calah Spellmon and Eliana Diggs; many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends; and his cats Wendy Sue, Miss Kitty, and Little Tabby Dean.

He was a gunnery sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Korean War as a part of the Renowned Frozen Chosin. Raymond attended the University of New Mexico. He was an artist, engineer, architect, entrepreneur, and collector of many treasures. Raymond was known for his passion, for being eccentric, eclectic and a bit frugal. Also his sensitivity and for being an animal lover. Of course his famous singing and dancing as many knew him as "Man of La Mancha".

Raymond's Life Celebration will begin with at Visitation on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at Salazar Mortuary, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. and a Reception at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Parish in Old Town Albuquerque. Burial will follow Services at 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony Russell, Fred B. Griego III, Mark Raby, Orlando Griego, Jude Griego, and Bobby Griego. Honorary pallbearer will be Ralph David Raby.
