Reinaldo (Ralph) Anzures

Reinaldo (Ralph) Anzures went to be with our Lord on Friday, July 17, 2020.

Ralph was born on January 29, 1950 in Albuquerque, NM. Ralph was born, raised, and lived his life in the South Valley of Albuquerque, NM. He was a graduate of Rio Grande High School, Class of 1968. He also received his Associates Degree in Mechanical Trades at TVI community college.

Ralph was preceded in death by his father Rafael (Ralph) B. Anzures, mother Della S. Anzures, and sister Evelyn M. Anzures.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cruzita (Marcella) Anzures, daughter Starla Anzures Robinson and husband Adam, son Jude Rafael Anzures and wife Cristina. He is also survived by his sister Theresa Martinez, brother Lionel Anzures, and five grandchildren: Angelica, Isabella, Damien, Reichelle, and Antonio.

Ralph was an adventurer who liked to live life to its fullest. As a young boy when he wasn’t roaming the neighborhood with his siblings and cousins, he could be found at Old Daddy and Mommy’s house helping farm their property; for the remainder of his life, he kept a green thumb. Throughout his life, he enjoyed nature by riding his ten-speed, river rafting, snow tubing, camping, playing horseshoes, and woodworking. As a sports enthusiast, he partook in bowling, baseball, softball, especially loved basketball, and enjoyed watching football. Indoors he could be found reading, playing darts, cards, chess, or doodling. Ralph was fond of music and enjoyed all genres. If he wasn’t listening to it, or talking about it, he could be found playing the flute or guitar, both self taught. A few years ago, he composed a song called “Adonai”; a song for the Lord. He has been a member of the Holy Spirit Cathedral for numerous years.

Ralph served his country honorably as a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic. While he was stationed, not far from home, at Holloman Air Force Base, he also  became a world traveler and enjoyed visiting various locations in Europe and the Pacific during his four years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War.

Working with his hands or knowing how something worked was always at the forefront of his mind. He was employed most of his working life with General Technologies, and later Special Projects. While at Special Projects, he worked with some of the smartest and talented individuals like Ron Fleschute, Rose Saunders, Sid Garris, and Bernie Noel.  Together they created impeccably superior “projects” for various branches of U.S. Government, Military, Law Enforcement, and commercial sectors. When he left his job, due to a heart attack, he continued his love of working with his hands. He created various woodcrafts as his past-time hobby when he wasn’t traveling across the country visiting his kids and grandchildren.

Ralph will be best remembered for his notorious smile, fantastic sense of humor, deep voice, mustache and his ponytail. He was a family man who loved God, family and country.  Ralph was smart, talented, honorable, artistic, funny, optimistic and always generous. He was a modern day Socrates.

Ralph's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 6:30 pm at Holy Spirit Cathedral located at 1001 Barelas Rd SW, 87102. Mass will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 11:00 am also at Holy Spirit Cathedral. Burial will take place on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N Guadalupe St Santa Fe, 87501.

Due to the COVID restrictions set in place by the Governor masks are MANDATORY at Holy Spirit Cathedral and Santa Fe National Cemetery. The capacity limit for the church will be announced. The cemetery has a capacity of 25 people allowed.
