Richard M. Crider, 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife Judith and his devoted rescue chihuahua mix Sonny.

Richard is survived by his brother Elton, daughter Sheri, daughter-in-law Barbara Bell, granddaughter Jessica Bell, Jeremy Garcia, granddaughter Erika Bell and Loki.

Richard Melvin Crider was born on April 27, 1937 to Alvoria and Clarence Crider in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Richard was the youngest of three children Betty Crider (Ritchey) and Elton Crider. Richard attended and graduated Altoona High School and shortly thereafter joined the Air Force. He was deployed to Arizona, Alaska and South Korea. While in Arizona, Richard met his wife, Judith Anna Shriver and adopted their only child Sheri Crider. Richard’s career was devoted to Glendale Union High School as a bus driver and maintenance man. Richard was an avid amateur photographer and lifelong Steeler and Nittany Lions fan. Married for more than fifty years, Judy and Richard traveled domestically in their fifth wheel for decades, proudly dedicating their lives to curiosity and tourism. Richard loved all animals, cacti, bright and shiny tchotchkes, flowers and shoofly pie. Richard spent the last years of his life in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Richard will be laid to rest on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501
