Rose A. Nodine, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Donald E. Nodine, daughter Donna J. Nodine, and son Michael I. Nodine.
Rose is survived by sons: Richard Nodine, Donald Nodine, Jr., Charles Nodine, Anthony Nodine, Jeffery Nodine; daughters: Debbie Nodine, Diane Holt, Rosalie Whitson, and L. Rose Nodine Bryant. Rose is also survived by 30+ grandchildren, 50+ great-grandchildren and 2+ great-great-grandchildren.
Rose was born on March 1, 1935, in Streator, Illinois. Rose married Donald E. Nodine, of Wenona, Illinois, where they started their lives together and grew their large family. They later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and established their forever home.
Rose’s life was an example of dedication, love and joy that touched the hearts of everyone she knew. Known for her strength, resilience, and determination, Rose faced life’s challenges head-on. Her unwavering commitment to her family was her life’s purpose, and she embraced it wholeheartedly. Rose always put her family needs before her own. She was the most unselfish, loving, strong person one would ever meet.
Thanksgiving was one of Rose’s most cherished holidays, as cooking and family gatherings brought her much joy. Bringing her family together was what she loved most. She also enjoyed watching sports with her family and cheering on her favorite teams, the Braves, the Cubs and the Broncos. Rose enjoyed crocheting and she loved making and gifting those treasures to her family and friends. Coloring was another favorite pastime, filling pages with vibrant colors that mirrored her optimistic outlook on life. Rose loved bingo and would not miss an opportunity to play, especially when her family would join for a little competitive fun.
These pastimes, however, paled in comparison to the pride she found in her role as a mother and grandmother. Raising her children was her greatest accomplishment and the most important role of her life.
Rose’s legacy is one of love, laughter and the unshakeable belief in the power of family. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share, the traditions we continue, and the love that she nurtured. Her indomitable spirit and the lessons she taught will forever be the guiding light for those who were privileged to know her.
If you would like to make a donation in Rose's name in lieu of flowers, the Muscular Dystrophy Association was near and dear to her heart.
