Shirley Ann Portzline

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Portzline on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the age of 82, surrounded by love.

She is now reunited with her parents, Simon and Emilia Ortiz, and siblings whom she cherished dearly.

Shirley leaves behind her devoted husband, Gary Portzline, their children: Brenda Newell (Thomas Newell) and James Portzline (Barbra Portzline). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Sydney, Ezra, Soren, and Rio, who brought her immense joy.

Shirley's unwavering love for her family was a testament to her kind and selfless nature. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was through a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful gift, or a discreet act of generosity.

Above all else, Shirley's world revolved around her children and grandchildren. They were the heartbeat of her life, the motivation behind every decision, every sacrifice. She approached motherhood and grandmotherhood with an unwavering commitment to be the best she could be, embodying the very essence of unconditional love.

Her spirit was a testament to her faith, which guided her through life's ups and downs. Shirley's trust in her beliefs was as natural as her sense of humor, which could brighten any room and lift any burden. She was the heart of her family, a source of wisdom and warmth that will be profoundly missed.

Her presence brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A celebration of Shirley's life will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 9:00am at St. Anne's Catholic Church located at 511 Alicia St. Santa Fe, 87501. Mass will begin at 10:00am. She will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. The family will invite family and friends for a lunch after the graveside services.
