Silvia Nessi Del Frate

Silvia Del Frate, 93, longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, lovingly surrounded by her four sons and extended family.

Silvia was preceded in death by her parents Enrico and Maria, beloved husband Nick, sister Enriqueta, and brother Juan.

She is survived by her sons: John Del Frate (Catherine), Renzo Del Frate (Lourdes), Victor Del Frate (Emma) Carlo Del Frate (Nelwyn). Twelve grandchildren: Andrea Marie, Mario Luis, Aleanna Joy, Angelina Valerie Alexis, Kody Johnathon, Francesca Silvia, Isabella Erina, Enrico Nicola, Eva Halina, Nicholas Behr, Lucca Blue and Soren Luz; six great grandchildren: Jozie Lou, William John, Luka Ivan, Hosanna Catherine, Galilee Silvia Arlene, Leticia Lou watching her grandchildren grow up was a blessing for which she was most grateful. Silvia is also survived by and always maintained an especially close relationship with her nieces: Marta Nessi, of Hermosillo, Mexico, Marlise Breguet, of Neuchatel, Switzerland and their families.

Silvia was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on August 27,1931, and was one of three children born to Enrico Nessi and Maria Condé Nessi.

Silvia graduated from The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City receiving a Masters degree in Chemistry, after which she practiced chemistry in Santa Rosalia, Mexico where she met the love of her life, Nicholas Louis Del Frate.

Silvia cherished raising her four sons. She was a devout Catholic, passionate about singing in the Spanish choir at Immaculate Conception Church and was a member of several Bible study groups throughout her life. She was a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, enjoyed gardening and studying pastel and pencil drawing. Most of all, Silvia delighted in travelling in the US, Mexico, and Europe for extended holidays with family.

The family extends its grateful appreciation to Meals On Wheels New Mexico, For Your In-Home Care, her Eucharistic Minister, Maria, and Presbyterian Hospital who provided loving care in her
last days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Meals On Wheels, New Mexico, Doctors Without Borders and Immaculate Conception Church in Silvia’s name.

Silvia's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at Salazar Mortuary Located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 619 Copper Ave NW, 87102. Silvia will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, 87102. A reception will follow inside Salazar Mortuary Event Center, 400 Third St. SW  87102.

Pallbearers will be Kody Del Frate, Enrico Del Frate, Lucca Del Frate, Soren Del Frate, Nico Del Frate, and Francesca Del Frate.
