Stuart B. "Stu" Milam

September 20, 1938 — July 12, 2020

Stuart B. "Stu" Milam, 81, ended his earthly journey on Sunday, July 12, 2020, after a long struggle with COPD.

Stu was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

He is survived by his wife Jo Ann; daughter Kathy Milam Geiger and husband Jim of Kennewick, WA; grandson Tony, his partner Bree, and their three sons of Las Vegas, NV; son Stuart B. Milam, Jr., his wife Debbie, and their sons, Benjamin and Jacob of El Paso, TX; also his sister Frankie Lou Tate of Issaquah, WA.

Stu was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1938. After graduating from Santa Fe High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Following active duty with the Marines, he went to work at the U.S. Department of Energy and spent his career in the Nuclear Weapons Program with assignments in Las Vegas, Nevada; Washington, D.C.; Idaho Falls, Idaho; and a final assignment at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. He was a valued colleague, known for his stubborn determination to get the job done.

Stu was a proud American, dedicated Marine, a humble Christian, and a loyal friend. He was a gentle and caring man who loved small children, dogs, country music (especially Waylon Jennings), songs of American patriotism, poetry, and red wine.

Stu will be greatly missed by his family and many, many friends. At his time, due to COVID-19, no service is planned. The family hopes to schedule a celebration of Stu's life at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family hopes you will consider donations to the SEMPER FI Fund 825 College Blvd.; Ste 102, Oceanside CA 92057-6263.

The family kindly requests that you please DO NOT send flowers.
