Theresa Torres

Theresa Torres, a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, at her home in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Albert Torres; two children: Darlene Gutierrez, Delbert Torres; mother Canda Trujillo; brothers: Leroy Jaramillo and Lawrence Martinez.

Born on October 2, 1946, Theresa was 77 years old when she passed, Theresa lived a life marked by passion and a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ and her family, which she considered her greatest accomplishment. She only knew how to give. She always put everyone before herself, even in her time of need.

Theresa was the proud owner of Theresa's Homestyle Cooking, where she poured her heart into every dish. Theresa also worked for many years at Albuquerque, Public Schools, a local newspaper among other places. She had memories as a member of a competitive bowling league with her beloved cousin. Theresa loved the memories made with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers, cousins, and her mom. She loved camping at the lake with family, taking walks to her daughter’s “jungle”, spending weekends with her husband in Ruidoso was the top of her list. She could spend hours staring at the beautiful lake and mountain at the Inn of The Mountain Gods. She loved the outdoors and always mentioned how beautiful God’s work was.

Theresa's beautiful soul touched everyone she met. Her love and personality were infectious with everyone that she came across. She left lasting impressions with all of her family and friends. Her unwavering faith and boundless generosity were the cornerstones of her existence. She leaves behind a legacy of love and the memory of her kind and passionate spirit, which will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Theresa’s life celebration will begin with a rosary to be recited on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic church located at 2005 N Plaza Street NW, 87104. Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Theresa will be laid to rest following the Mass at Santa Clara Cemetery located at 611 Foothill Rd SW, 87105. A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. at San Jose en Los Duranes (San Jose Mission Catholic Church) located at 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW, 87104.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Torres, Santiago Gutierrez, Julian Sedillo, Isaiah Sedillo, Josh Hodges and Matthew Barstow.
