Thomas Matthew Arguello, Sr., known affectionately as Tom to his friends and family, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He is survived by his parents, Charlie and Esther, wife Nicole, children: Tiffani, Thomas, Rachel, grandsons: Dylan, Jesse, granddaughter (who is yet to be named), and brother Mario.
Tom was born on June 22, 1966, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His zest for life and love for the great outdoors began at an early age on Philmont Scout Ranch where he was raised. Tom's passion for hunting, fishing, and camping was more than a pastime; it was a reflection of his profound connection with nature, which also deepened his love for God. His spirit felt most at home under the vast New Mexico skies, and he often said that the whisper of the pines and the ripple of the streams were his favorite hymns. Florida held a special place in his heart as well, and he cherished the moments spent there, basking in the sun and sea with those he loved.
A loving family man, a friendly face in the community, and a creative soul, Tom's presence was a source of joy and comfort to all who knew him. His 39-year career was marked by dedication and success, a testament to his driven nature and ability to inspire those around him. Tom's hobbies were as diverse as his skills, collecting knives, taxidermy, antlers, and an impressive array of guns. He took pride in his trucks and found solace in the simple pleasure of tending to his garden.
Tom's legacy is one of warmth and generosity, his laughter and stories a cherished memory in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. His love for his dogs was unparalleled, each one a faithful companion on his many adventures and a comfort during quiet evenings at home.
As we bid farewell to Thomas Matthew Arguello, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. His spirit, like the landscapes he so loved, was grand, untamed, and beautifully serene. Tom's memory will continue to inspire us, to embrace the world with open arms, to find peace in nature's embrace, and to live each day with a loving and creative heart.
