Tina Romero,67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2023, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, joining her mother, father, and son in their eternal home.

She was preceded in death by son Frank Romero, Jr., father Carlos Avila, and mother Rosemary Hernandez.

Tina is survived by her daughter Melissa Maldonado; grandsons: Gabriel Clark, Dominic Maldonado, Jr.; granddaughter Ariana Maldonado; brothers: Ernest, Michael, Martin, Joe Avila; sisters: Patricia Lovato, Lupita Avila, and brother-in-law John Lovato along with countless nieces and nephews.

Born on February 17, 1956, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tina had a radiating presence that brought joy and laughter to her family, friends, and anyone who was around her.

Tina began her beautiful life with Frank Romero by tying the knot in 1971 and later welcomed two beautiful children. Frank supported Tina throughout her life until the very end and became a devoted and loving friend. Tina was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Tina enjoyed being a social butterfly and always being the life of the party with her witty, outgoing, and sassy personality. She had a heart as big as her smile, willing to give her last to anyone that needed it even if it meant giving the shirt off her back. Her love for her family was immense and unwavering, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Tina was also known and desired for her strength and her fight. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and won the fight.

Tina will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering kindness. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.

Tina’s family would like to express an endless amount of thankfulness and love to Skies Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and their nurses for always watching over Tina for numerous years. Tina made numerous friendships with the nurses and residents during her stay.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Lovato, Jr., Carlos Lujan, Martin Avila, Jr., Esteban Padilla, Chris Martinez, Dominic Maldonado, Chris Rubio, and Charles Karns, Jr.

Tina’s life celebration will begin with a visitation at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Salazar Mortuary located at 400 Third St SW, 87102. Service will begin at 6:00 p.m.
