Wilfred "Sunshine" Caballero, Jr.

December 8, 1996 — September 23, 2024

Wilfred Caballero, Jr., affectionately known to all as "Sunshine" for his radiant personality and ability to brighten any room, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Sunshine was preceded in death by niece Harmony Miracle Caballero-Cruz.

He is survived by his mom Gloria Caballero; dad Wilfred Caballero, Sr.; two sisters: Shiann Caballero, Nicole Caballero; grandparent Elizabeth Whitman; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Born on December 8, 1996, in Gallup, New Mexico, Sunshine was full of joy and laughter throughout his 27 years of life.

Sunshine grew up in Gallup, a town that held his heart even as he moved to Albuquerque for work. His love for sports was evident to anyone who knew him. A triple threat, he excelled in golfing, basketball, and baseball, finding camaraderie and fulfillment in each game. His competitive spirit was matched only by his sportsmanship and the sheer pleasure he took in playing.

His musical tastes were as eclectic as his interests, ranging from the energetic beats of rap to the soulful twangs of country music. Sunshine was a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bulls, and Boston Red Sox, his loyalty unwavering through every season.

Camping under the stars was more than a pastime for Sunshine; it was a return to nature that rejuvenated his spirit. His purpose in life was simple yet profound: to be happy and to make others happy. This mission was evident in every aspect of his life, from his infectious laughter to his generous spirit.

As the middle child, Sunshine was the family's heart, known for his "bring it in, mom" hugs that could lift the spirits of anyone fortunate enough to be in his embrace. His hugs, smile, and laugh were not just characteristics but the essence of his unique presence.

Those who knew Sunshine would describe him as loving, generous, and funny. He had a knack for humor that could defuse any tense situation and a generosity that knew no bounds. His laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of his loved ones, a tune they will carry with them forever.

Sunshine's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire joy and kindness in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his radiant soul.
